The National Arts Festival begins on 27th June and will be taking place in Makhanda, South Africa until Sunday 7th July. The annual festival has been running under its current name since 2002 and regularly attracts over 200,000 visitors, who are there for the 2,000 performances spanning more than 600 events.
The festival is Africa's largest multi-arts festival and serves as the leading African showcase of local and international creativity. Taking place over 11 days in more than 90 venues in Makhanda, the festival always enjoys strong participation from artists from all of South Africa’s nine provinces as well as a large number of international artists and audiences making the trip to South Africa for the festivities.
